History of the Minotaur
The Minotaur:

The Minotaur was a creature with the head of a bull on the body of a manor, as described by Roman poet Ovid, "part man and part bull". He dwelt at the center of the Cretan Labyrinth, which was an elaborate maze-like constructiondesigned by the architect Daedalus and his son Icarus, on the command of King Minos of Crete.
History of the Minotaur Squadron
The Minotaur was developed as the special weapons and tatics squadron for the Raven Air Wing. Inspired by the 51st Air Wing of the United States Air Force, which consisted of the 25th Fighter Squadron and the 36th Fighter Squadron.
These squadrons actually fit the idea that you could have a chase and ambush techniques in space flight combat. The 25th Squadron uses the A-10 Thunderbolt, which is a flying heavy weapons platform employing the Vulcan Cannon in the nose of the aircraft. The 36th Squadron employs the F-16 Falcon, which to date is still one of the fastest aircraft in the sky.
Using these kinds of aircraft the Minotaur thought they could chase away Raiders and even Heavy Raiders away from the main combat zone in order to set up an ambush full of firepower.
The Minotaur Viper tail wings pays homage to this group of heroes as it is painted in a checkered pattern but to be different the colors are red and black instead of the black and white of the 51st
What it means to be a Minotaur
The Minotaurs pride themselves as being the most guerrilla warfare minded squadron in the fleet. Also being the one of the most innovative minds in the fleet as members of the Minotaur Squadron took the time and effort in order to take the Viper Mk. III and creating a heavy weapons and armored platform.
Creating the Mk. III-A nicknaming it "Laybrus" for the battle axe that the Minotaur used in the myths and legends. The Laybrus empolys the Vuclan Cannon and reinforced armor and advanced control systems to pre pare for the ambushes it creates.
Minotaurs are famous for using asteroid fields for cover fire and ambush points for Cylon raiders. We strike fast, we strike hard and then fade away. To try to hunt the the Hunters is an exercise in futility. We are the best. You are now in the maze, find your way out.
