I am long time fan of all things Battlestar! Beginning with TOS when it aired originally and continuing to the new series. I am the Gemenon Representative to the Quorum of the Twelve as well as the CDF and the Raven.
I have been a scifi fan for as long as I can remember and attended my first "convention" in 1977 to see Gene Roddenberry speak and show the original pilot episode of Star Trek (before it was shown on TV). After that experience I was hooked into SciFi and conventions for good. I am a amateur prop builder and uniform creator/collector. I have a TOS Enterprise command chair in my family room (built by me), lots of screen used props, and many replica uniforms from BSG and Trek. I also do some unique LCARS type displays for other groups (non SciFi, but most of them recognize the look right away). I've been to many conventions since the first in 1977.
I am a member of the Raven because of my love for BSG and what it represents. I want to share the experiences with other members and maybe help them in what they want out of the fan organization. I think we are all here because we see a common vision in what is the premise of Battlestar Galactica, and we want to keep that vision going for others to see. To me, BSG is all about family, friends, and surviving thru the worst in our lives, something that many of us have faced or will face in our lives. This group gives us another option for support with like-minded friends.
If you're wondering what my call sign means, I'll try to explain. In Greek mythology Kreios was one of the Titans in the list given in Hesiod's Theology, a son of Uranus and Gaia. Kreios was inexorably involved in the ten-year-long war between the Olympian gods and Titans. When the war was lost, Kreios was banished along with the others to the lower level of Hades called Tartarus. So Kreios is kind of similar to the story of Galactica, I liked that he was the son of Uranus and Gaia, he is also possibly the father of Astraios and Pallas as well as Perses.
In real life I am in the electrical field and a professional project manager. In my spare time I'm an amateur musician, I play gig's probably twice a month on average. No singing for me, I'm in the brass section :)
